Holiday Card Designs 2017

These past two months, I've designed a few Christmas cards and a holiday invitation. The end of the year seems to be pretty busy for me as I get requests to design family greeting cards for the upcoming holiday. I'm ever so thankful that my clients believe in me to design a card that they think of in their heads and then I come in to make it reality. Here are a few (including my family's) that I designed. Enjoy!

I have been truly blessed this year with all the design projects and photo sessions! I want to THANK YOU all for trusting me with your needs, whether it was for photos or designing an invitation or a logo. I have enjoyed working with each and every one of you this year. Let's make 2017 another great year!

The Great Fall

Fall is upon us, the leaves are turning colors...making for fabulous backgrounds. Anyone up for some family photos?

The Chivas Family photoshoot was so much fun and they had a big secret in store! This was not only a family photoshoot, but also a pregnancy announcement shoot, as well. I was honored to take their photos and know their little secret early on (it's so hard for me to keep secrets). What a cute little family with a new, healthy baby boy!

The Hilario Family was like a mini reunion with Joy and I. We were high school classmates back in the day at Green Run High School. She contacted me for her family photos (I want to say the first ever?). I finally met her gorgeous family...such down-to-earth people. We were reminiscing during the whole shoot. Yes, we're nerds.

The Best Family was, well, what can I say, they live up to their name! I could feel the love with this family. This shoot was in the middle of December when it was 80 degrees outside (what?!). So, I had the Best Family during the best weather (see, I told ya!). What a good looking family!

It's a generational thing...

This year was my first year to try a generational photo shoot. You might have seen it before on Pinterest or other photography sites. It's the one where you have three or four generations of family members each holding a frame with a photo of another family member from another generation. Well, I was approached by a client to see if I can do this for her. I had taken her family photos a while back when her mother was still with us and not long after, she passed away. She asked if I could do a generational photo using a photo of her that I took then. I was all in for the challenge. It turned out great! Not only was she pleased with the results, she was overwhelmed with emotion. I did another generational photoshoot after that, slightly different, but still turned out perfect! Here they are:

Next up, is not really like the ones above, but it's still kind of a generational thing, per say. A few years back, when I was pregnant with my son, a lady at work came to me and asked if I could take photos of her Aunt. Her Aunt was to turn 100 years old in a couple of months. I jumped at the opportunity! I had never met anyone that age before. She was a cute, feisty little lady, that's for sure. I asked her when her birthday was and she told me it was April 13th. I told her my son was due sometime in April. Well, he was born on April 12th...which would make them one day shy of 100 years apart! My coworker and I have been talking about bringing them together for a photo shoot and we finally did it four years after her 100th birthday. Here are the results:

Interested in doing your own generational thing? Let me know!

Test Models

My kids probably don't know it, but I count on them to be my test models...especially when they come with me to photo shoots (which is not often). But when they do, I get the opportunity to photograph them before I do my real shots. Of course, they happily oblige! It's ironic that I take professional photos of other people's children, but not much of my own. I guess I have to start working more on that. Don't worry, though...I'm also teaching Kaylah the good ol' way to earn some money. It's a win-win, I think!

My first ever model, Kaylah when she was 2

She was a great test model

This was recently, just now she's earning her keep!

She was up for anything! I love her!

Acting crazy...she was really working it, though

My other handsome model, Gabriel @ 4

He's a natural, really.

The Little People

Hi everyone! I have had some time off of work this week (the reason for all my posts this past week). I just celebrated a birthday and you know who loves birthdays? The little people do! My kids wished me "Happy Birthday" more times than I could count yesterday. So, today my blog entry is dedicated to the little people that I've photographed in the past. Most of these kids have celebrated many birthdays since I took these photos, but I'm not about to tell my age...so, with that said, enjoy these cute little faces that I've had the pleasure to meet and photograph. Enjoy!

Birthdays Galore!

Oh how I love birthdays! I've designed so many birthday invitations these many years. I love, love, love them! They are so much fun to design. I especially love themed birthdays. Ever since having my kids, I wanted to give them the best birthday parties ever. Though, I wanted to give them some over-the-top Pinterest-like parties, my pockets couldn't keep up. They settled for the best looking themed designed invitations instead..well, ok more than that...they got some good looking party favors, as well. Kidding! I'm sure their parties were spectacular to them, which is all that mattered. Here are a few that I've designed for my kids in the past. I will post more when I get a chance.

My son love, love, loves Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. So, for his 2nd birthday, it was only natural to throw him a "Tiger-riffic" Party. The invitations turned out great, which made me happy and the party turned out to be a blast, which made my son happy. Win, win!

When my daughter was 2, her favorite show was Sesame Street...she loved herself some Elmo. I came up with this fun idea for her invitation. It turned out really well, very eye-catching with the primary colors and the special touch at the bottom that says, "Brought to you by the letter K and the number 2".

For Kaylah's 1st Birthday design, I chose to do what many parents do...somehow fit the first 12 months of your child's life in a little 4x6. I did just that in the column on the left or should I say, inside the number "1" on the left. Pretty neat, huh? Well, in 2009 it was. :)

I had a sweet lady at work approach me to design a birthday invitation for her husband's 50th birthday. It was a black and white event, very classy, very elegant. I chose to do this design. Simple, sophisticated. What more can I say?
